MPO Member Resources
MPO planning staff are dedicated to ensuring that every aspect of our transportation planning process is coordinated to be efficient, effective and striving to meet local needs and community priorities. We are the managers of the process, but the MPO members are the decision-makers. You determine what our goals ad objectives are in the short-term as well as over a 25 year horizon. You adopts our plans and program initiatives. You determine how available federal funds will be allocated to the local jurisdictions and you must certify compliance with the rules and regulations governing the MPO annually.
To ensure that each member knows his or her responsibilities and can actively undertake their role whether it is as a member of the Technical Coordinating Committee (TCC) or the Transportation Policy Committee (TPC), the staff have created an orientation seminar and have also identified other informative materials to educate our membership. These materials are appropriate for both new and long-time members of the MS Gulf Coast MPO.
The member seminar is a core component of this effort. It is written to be brief, but comprehensive. You’ll get more familiar with who we are, what we do, where we serve, how we are funded and governed, who participates on the TCC and TPC committees, who the current committee leadership is and much more.
